It’s been quite a while since I have posted. I do apologize for not writing for so long. I wish I had some great excuse for not writing, but alas I do not.
I took time off in April to write for Camp NaNoWriMo. I did not finish my story in April but I have a good chunk of my next book outlined and the writing should be a bit easier. An outline, for me is one of the most important parts of the writing process. I am a bit envious of those who can write by the seat of their pants and those who skip the outline all together. Without my outline, I am lost.
In May, I took time to spring clean our home. I would normally take the whole month to deep clean but Nick’s mother came to visit us. So, I kicked into high gear and got the house cleaned before she came to spend a week with us.
Lynn was with us for a week and it was a nice visit. We got to show her around Beaumont, as this was her first time here. She was surprised at the size of Beaumont and was more than happy to let me drive because of the traffic and her not knowing her way around.
Nick had to work the first few nights she was here and I brought her to Sertinos Cafe to meet my friend Sweet, Sweet Emily. Emily is the fearless leader of the Golden Triangle NaNoWriMo Writers. Lynn and I ended up coming back to Sertinos for lunch one afternoon also. If you get a chance to come and get a bite to eat at Sertinos, I recommend the turkey cranberry sandwich. It is to die for!!
Nick and I were both sad to see him mom leave, but she promised she would come back soon. It was very nice for Nick to have time with his mom.
I am still going to the gym and shooting for a goal of five days a week. It doesn’t always happen. There are days where my pain is just too much for me to handle and going to the gym makes it worse. Going to the gym, almost always raises my blood sugar and with only having one kidney, I have to keep my blood sugar under control so I do not damage my lone kidney.
Speaking of blood sugars, last month the doctor at the diabetic clinic switched me to inhaled insulin. I was so excited about not have to give myself shots. With inhaled insulin, it was three less shots a day and the only shot was the one at bedtime.
It makes me very sad to say that this month, I asked the doctor to put me back on the novolog insulin pen. My blood sugar was staying high and not coming down when it was supposed too. To me, if seems as if I was not getting enough insulin. There was always residual insulin left in the inhaler. The inhaled insulin was supposed to cut back on the low blood sugars that having to much insulin can cause, however my blood sugar kept being high. Having high blood sugars for weeks on end are a very good way to damage my kidney. I am glad that the doctor and the diabetic educator trust my judgement and let me stop with the inhaled to bring my sugars down. I am glad to say that after my first shot today, my numbers are lower than they have been in the past month.
On a much brighter note, Nick and I celebrate nine years of marriage on Wednesday. I am planning on making him a special card, which I will work on when he goes back to work tomorrow. I am also going to cook him something really good for dinner. He has to work on our anniversary but we went out this past weekend to celebrate with friends of ours. If you remind me, I will tell you all about that tomorrow.
I pray that you all have a blessed evening and that your lives are filled with God, love, light and happines.
