Happy Easter! Thank You, Aunt Penny!

Hello my sweet peeps! Get it peeps? Easter peeps!!!

I had the most amazing thing happen to me Saturday when I was out walking. I have been having some personal issues, letting it all get bottled up inside of me and I just wanted to clear my head to see if I could figure things out on my own. I decided a nice walk would help me clear my head and give me time to think things through.

When I got over to the new hike and bike trail, there were very few people out walking and I quickly realized why. It was freezing cold, windy and cloudy. I wore my new black running shorts, long sleeve pull over and a baseball hat. By the time I was a quarter of the way through, I was ready to give up and turn around, but I pushed through. The wind cut through my clothes and ripped the baseball hat off my head multiple times and I swear it took me till Sunday morning to finally get warmed up.

When I reached the end of the trail and turned around to walk back to my car, I began to pray. Whenever I am in doubt about something, I turn to God because, He is the one who has all the answers to my questions. He doesn’t always reveal the answers to my questions, but I do feel better once I give everything over to God. He helps to lighten my load.

As I was praying, I found myself talking to my Aunt Penny, who passed away last year. I never got to say goodbye to her, but I am glad that she is no longer suffering from brain cancer and she is in heaven with God. She is watching us from heaven and I will be so happy to see her when I get to heaven. ❤ When Nick and I lived in Pennsylvania, I got to get closer to her and I appreciate all the advice and love she has given me over the years.

On my walk, I asked Aunt Penny to help me figure out what I needed to do and to help me. As I was talking to her, the sun broke through the clouds and began to warm me. I knew that she heard me and would help me figure out what I needed to do. I did find resolution to one problem and I am getting help with the bottling up everything inside of me until I am ready to explode.

God is amazing. He seems to know what I need before I even do.

Can you believe Easter is one week away? I haven’t eaten one piece of chocolate and I do believe that needs to be taken care of soon. Do they make chocolate covered peeps? I must investigate this, I will report my findings.

Seriously though, Easter is a special time of the year that should be celebrated. Where would we be without Jesus? As horribly as Jesus was treated and hung on a cross to die for our sins, he still went to God on our behalf. Luke 23:34 And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.”

If I was treated the way Jesus was treated, I don’t know that I could do as he did. He was the only perfect human to walk on this earth. No matter how much I strive to be a good daughter of God, I fail miserably but God has forgiven me for my sins because the blood of Jesus was shed to pay my sins. Those words make me happy that I am a follower of Jesus, but it cuts me deep that Jesus needed to die for my sins.

After the death of Jesus upon the cross, Joseph from the Jewish town of Arimathea took the body of Jesus and wrapped it in a linen shroud and laid him in a tomb cut into stone, where no one had ever yet been laid. It was the day of Preparation, and the Sabbath was beginning. The women who had come with him from Galilee followed and saw the tomb and how his body was laid. They returned and prepared spices and ointments. On the Sabbath they rested according to the commandments. (The Gospel According to Luke 23: 50-56)

I cannot even imagine seeing the body of Christ on the cross, let alone him lying in a tomb. They were told he would be resurrected, but I can’t fathom being told he would live again and it actually happening. Today we have the bible that tells all about Jesus’ life, death and resurrection. Not being able to witness his resurrection, we must have faith that it happened. I know in my heart that Jesus died for my sins and that one day I will resided in Heaven with my Father.

But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared. And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel. And as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them,” Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified on the third day rise.” The Gospel According to Luke 24:1-8

I am very thankful that God loved me enough to send his son to die for me and you.

During the Easter season, I like to make the Empty Tomb Cookies. I don’t have children to do this, but I do this for myself. I make sure to read the bible as I am making the cookies, because to me this is a very important part of the cookies themselves. I have learned to make my cookies smaller instead of larger because these are baked with the oven turn off. I would like to share the website that I make the cookies from. If you make the cookies, please take a picture so that I may see them. CLICK HERE FOR RECIPE

My prayer at that you have a blessed Easter season. Remember, God loves you!!!

Peace, Love and Happiness,

Peggy Eileen
