Camp NaNoWriMo

^^ the image above is the book cover for my novella.

Camp NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) is here. There are three official NaNoWriMo events. Camp in April, which just started, another camp in July and then the big event NaNoWriMo where your minimum word count is 50,000.

For this camp event, I have a word count of 15,000. The minimum for camp nano is 10,000 words. I chose 15,000 because I am writing a murder mystery novella for a competition and the maximum word count has to be under 20,000. I figure if I can write the novella during camp, I will have roughly twenty-five days to edit it, perfect it and overnight it to the competition judges. This is the first time that I am writing out of my normal young adult genre and I am a bit nervous because I am stepping outside of my box. This will be good for me though. I am proving to myself that I am capable of writing outside of my comfort zone.

I need to thank Cat, from my writing group. She gave me the courage to write this story. I also need to thank those from my writing group who were at Sertinos with me last night. You have no idea how much I appreciate that you all think my story idea is a good one. I am enjoying exploring different characters that are not Carrie Anne.

I have reached my word count for day one and camp only started 2 and 1/2 hours ago. I am feeling good about this camp nano project. I am still nervous, but I am feeling better about it.

Excuse me, I will be right back.

I’m back, I needed my middle of the night blueberry pop tart.

If you have never taken part of nano, it is not too late to join. Or if you want to just see what it’s all about, CLICK HERE and HERE for info about Camp Nano and Nano in November.

I am looking forward to the writing group meeting on Monday. I am bringing a craft project for everyone to do and that way everyone will have a NaNo 2016 souvenir. I love my writing group, they accept me for who I am. It is nice having people who get me!!

Time to write another 500 words and then off to bed. I am getting sleepy.

Peace, Love & Happiness,

Peggy Eileen

Your story sounds awesome, and I can’t wait to hear more about it. The craft project was a fun one. Thanks for doing that! Hopefully I will see you (and everyone else) at group tomorrow.
