I don’t know about you, but I have had ENOUGH! I am angry, literally angry that today children across this country on the one month anniversary of the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School will walk out of their schools to march in protest the lack of movement by the President, Congress, and the Senate to declare gun violence a public health crisis. (LINK to more information concerning the walkout and what you can do to support the students)

Students across the time zones will be walking out of school at 10:00 o’clock for 17 minutes to honor each of the victims from the Parkland, Florida shooting. Students have been threatened with action from detention to suspension for taking part in the walkout and that parent’s note would excuse the absence. However, many colleges have come out to stand with the students saying that any actions taken against the students by the schools will not affect students applying to college. I am thankful that there are some educational institutions that are supporting these kids.

I’m very angry that the National Rifle Association is able to buy politicians that are supposed to represent the people of this country and not what the NRA wants. I do believe in the 2nd Amendment, but I do not believe owning assault type weapons trumps the lives of children. The children (and I mean ALL children, no matter where are from) deserve the chance to get an education without fearing for their lives.

If you are upset because of this writing, then maybe it is time for you to re-evaluate your attachment to your weapons. I have two nephews who are still in school, a niece, and two cousins in college and I don’t think they need to be afraid of going to school. Children shouldn’t have to have shelter in place drills or “bad man” drills. We are mentally harming the kids of this country with every single drill that happens. Kids are fearing for their lives. I have seen where children are writing the “just in case I get killed in school” letters to their families and it makes me wonder why people are just fine with students fearing school. Other countries, the moment a tragedy like this happened, sensible gun control happened, but not here we just let more and more kids die.

The young adults from Parkland, Florida have made shockwaves across the country as they try to make this world a better place for all kids. They have acted more adult than some adults, especially a Republican candidate from Maine. He currently is running unopposed and I pray the Democrats find someone who doesn’t have to call kids names just to feel big, to run against him.

Leslie Gibson took to his twitter to say about Emma Gonzalez, “There is nothing about this skinhead lesbian that impresses me and there is nothing that she has to say unless you’re frothing at the mouth moonbat.” He continued his rant to attack David Hogg calling him, “a bald face liar.” These young adults do not deserve this from people who say they want to represent the people. After twitter started to push back against him, Gibson deleted his account, but not before screenshots had been taken. (LINK) (LINK)

When the young adults begin to run for political offices, I see the landscape of the country changing for the better. The next generation has got this…

In the meantime I will pray for all of the students and that their walkout is successful and devoid of anything that may harm them.

Peace, Love & Kitty Snuggles,
