PLAYING POLITICS WITH DEMOCRACY

Why are Republicans trying to stop our democracy? In my opinion, some of the Republicans in office don’t care about democracy and when they get to that point, they just need to go. Especially since Trump has gotten into office, lying, cheating and stealing seems to be the way of the Republican Party. I cannot tell you how many people I have seen on Twitter state that they used to be Republican or Independent, but now they are Democrat and have become part of the resistance Donald Trump likes to make fun of, but the resistance will have the last laugh when he and those around them find themselves under indictment.

Wisconson Governor, Scott Walker was ordered by a judge to hold special elections for two empty legislative seats that he felt did not need to be filled via special election. 229,904 residents are living in the unrepresented districts. Governor Scott thinks that it’s alright to let these two seats remain vacant for almost a year without having special elections.

Scott Walker doesn’t give a crap about the people in his state, or he would have held the special elections by now. But, he is too afraid that the blue wave of resistance washing over this country will turn those two seats democrat, so he is just undermining the democracy of the country.

Referring to the arguments made by Walker’s lawyers as “inconsistent, incompatible and irreconcilable,” Dane County Circuit Court Judge Josann Reynolds explained: “To state the obvious, if the plaintiffs have a right to vote for their representatives, they must have an election to do so.”

The judge has ordered Governor Walker to call for the special elections by Thursday, March 29th and Walker had asked for an extension until April 6th but the judge declined the request. Walker hoped for the delay so that he could have legislature intercede.

Governor Walker and Republican leaders are still trying to find a way to avoid the existing laws and rewrite the law in the meantime. What he is attempting to do is rewrite laws that have been in place for decades. (LINK)

This tells me that some Republicans don’t care how they win as long as they win in the end. Governor Walker cares very little for his constituents. If he did, he wouldn’t tread all over existing laws to get his way. Do we wonder where he got this idea from?

When Justice Scalia passed away, then President Barack Obama nominated Judge Merrick Garland to fill the seat left vacant. However, Republicans had another idea, they chose to block having a vote for Merrick Garland keeping the seat vacant for a total of 422 days.

The vacancy was the longest in the history of the nine-seat Supreme Court, bypassing the previous record by a full month. The Supreme Court became nine-seats in 1869 and before becoming nine seats, the longest recorded vacancy was 841 days between April 1844 and August 1846.

Mitch McConnell says he is following the “Biden Rule,” which means he is trying to blame Democrats for his blocking of democracy. I know, it’s Faux News (aka Entertainment) report, but that is where you see Republicans telling the truth since they are among “friends.”

Even Donald Trump gets in on blocking democracy. Remember when the Republicans release their memo and Trump refused to release the Democratic memo? It was sent back to the committee and then finally released when the news had turned to other topics. This was just another way for democracy to be trampled on by the Republican party.

The Republican party likes to say they are the party of “Christian values” and yet here are three cases of the Republicans denying democracy to the American people. They are no longer the party of Christian values. They are the party of “we must win at any costs.” They really don’t care what they are doing to the American people as long as they get to stay in power. They are the party of POWER AND GREED.

I’m sorry to put out some ugly vibes on hump day, but what can I say? When I read about Scott Walker denying the people of Wisconson their right to representation I knew I had to write about this.

I hope you have a lovely hump day and when you get home, only two days until the weekend.

Mawow and I wish you,

Peace, Love & Kitty Snuggles,
