#BlackLivesMatter Stephon Clark Matters

Dear God,

Can you please help us? Our country is going backward instead of in the direction you would have us going. Our president has already pardoned a racist man who has been accused of abuse of power, misuse of funds, failure to investigate sex crimes, unlawful enforcement of immigration laws, election law violations and his office was also accused of racial profiling. A federal court appointed a monitor to oversee his office’s operations.

The DOJ concluded Joe Arpaio had the worst pattern of racial profiling in U.S. History and filed a suit against him for unlawful discriminatory police conduct. His office paid more than $146 million in settlements. In 2013 he and those who worked for him were found guilty of racial profiling of Hispanic people while conducting traffic stops.

Donald Trump pardoned Joe Arpaio in July of 2017 after he had been found guilty of contempt of court. Arpaio is currently running for the U.S. Senate and stated that if elected he will revive the theory that former President Obama’s birth certificate is fake. (LINK)

If you don’t want to listen to him rattle on, skip forward to the 6-minute mark.

Each morning when I get up, the first thing I do is turn on the news to see what happened while I was asleep. I can honestly say I find the news so depressing. Whenever I hear about another school shooting where innocent lives are lost, it pisses me off. Our country could stop these senseless shooting, but Donald Trump is too worried about pardoning people who should be forced to do jail time.

And then I hear about another black man getting killed by the very people who took an oath to protect the very lives they are taking and the “president” of our country says that the investigation into the shooting of Stephon Clark is best left local authorities, which means the cops who each shot this man ten times “out of fear” will get no punishment at all.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters Wednesday that the president believes it is a “local matter and something we feel should be left up to local authorities.”

“We want to make sure all law enforcement is carrying out the letter of the law,” Sanders said. “The president is very supportive of law enforcement. But at the same time, in these specific cases and specific instances, those will be left up to local authorities to make that determination and is not something for the federal government to weigh in on.” (LINK)

It is time for our government to get involved when time and time again people of color are being gunned down by the police. If a police officer is afraid of black people then they have no business being working out in the field. It is time for police officers to check their privilege. To me, it feels like the police have been invaded by white supremacists and they are trying to kill as many black men as possible.

The officers who shot Stephon Clark have of course been placed on “paid” administrative leave. In other words, they are getting a paid vacation for murdering a man in his Grandmother’s backyard.

I watched the video from the police officer’s body cam and it was hard to watch. After the two officers shot Stephon Clark twenty (and that’s absolutely disgusting, 20 shots) times the one officer reloaded his gun just in case the 20 shots didn’t kill him. They sounded like military as they talked about doing a “tactical reload” after killing Stephon Clark.

The officers then called for backup and waited until backup arrived five or six minutes later and they continued to yell at Stephon Clark to show his hands, even after they said he had been laying there without movement. After the got brave enough to walk toward Stephon, we see the cell phone laying on the ground near his lifeless body. The officers then decided to cuff Stephon while he bled to death.

These are not police for the people. These are police who are too afraid of black men, so they shoot first and ask questions later. They know that even though they murdered this man, they won’t be charged. It isn’t often police get in trouble for killing people of color and it’s freaking time it stopped.

It is time for us to protect the people being targeted by police. We need this shit to stop and it needs to stop now. Having a racist in the White House is only going to make this worse, so those of us with white privilege need to use our privilege to protect. We cannot let this happen. We all bleed the same color. We are one race, the HUMAN RACE.

Mawow and I wish you,

Peace, Love & Kitty Snuggles,
