IS IT TIME TO TALK GUN CONTROL YET?

I must admit to you that I am really tired of having to write about innocent people being killed by deranged people who should never, ever be allowed to own firearms. Early Sunday morning, four people were killed, and four others were injured at a Waffle House in Antioch, Tennessee. (LINK)

It pisses me off that four people were killed by a mentally ill man, who should never have had access to firearms. This man, Travis Reinking, had lost the right to own firearms after the Secret Service found him in a restricted area of the White House in July 2017. He refused to leave the restricted area when asked. He said he wanted to meet the president. The FBI and the authorities in Tazewell County, Illinois interviewed him and the FBI requested that Reinking’s firearm authorization be revoked and four firearms seized, including the AR-15 used in the shooting on Sunday. The authorities in Tazewell County gave Reinking’s father the firearms for safekeeping, but he was in possession of the AR-15, so apparently, the father returned the weapons to his son. Why would this man return firearms to his son? This man’s family knew he had a history delusions. In 2014 Reinking believe that Taylor Swift was hacking his phone and Netflix account. He also believed that Taylor Swift wanted to meet him in at a Morton, IL Dairy Queen.

In 2016 the authorities were called to a CVS Pharmacy parking lot where Reinking was threatening to commit suicide. His family alerted the authorities that he owned firearms, but the weapons were not removed. This man exposed himself at a public pool wearing a woman’s pink dressing gown. So again, I ask why did this man’s father give him back the firearms? I think his father needs to be charged also. It has to be against the law to give back firearms that have been taken back by the police, right?

As of when I am writing this, (9 pm CST) Travis Reinking is still at large and could be armed with two weapons that he should have never been able to get his hands on. I checked Twitter a little while ago, and neither the NRA or our president have even mentioned this tragedy. Four innocent people have lost their lives and because it doesn’t fit the narrative of “it takes a good guy armed with a gun to take down a bad guy with a gun” the president and the NRA will pretend this shooting never happened.

The president would have been all over this if the shooter had been brown/black and the hero of the story had been white, but since the shooter is a homegrown terrorist and the hero is a man of color he hasn’t acknowledged this tragedy had happened. And, the NRA tends to stick their heads in the sand when a shooting happens in this country unless it’s at a high school, then they take potshots at the kids who are trying to make change happen in the country.

I thank God that James Shaw Jr. was at the Waffle House this morning. God put him where he needed to be. Mr. Shaw says he is not a hero, but I believe he is a hero. I know that four innocent lives have been lost, but without Mr. Shaw who knows how many lives would have been lost. I am also grateful that Mr. Shaw was well enough to go to church this morning. I will be praying for him as he comes to terms with what he witnessed and helped stop. This man should be given free waffles for the rest of his life.

I had a completely different post for today, but this shooting is something I needed to write about. We need to stay vigilant about our surroundings, you never know who could be carrying a gun and planning to kill innocent people. Please keep yourself safe and I will pray that you all stay safe and sound until we can get common sense gun laws passed in this country. I am going to keep doing my part. I am going to vote, keep writing this blog so my voice is heard and keep marching when I am needed. I will support the kids who are trying to make a difference in this world.

Donald Trump and the GOP have made a big mistake, they have pissed off the young people and they have pissed off the elderly by talking about skimming social security. Once the young and elderly turn against you, you know you are being kicked out of offices, which is why so many Republicans are not running for office again. It will be great to get honest people back in charge of this country! When that happens, Donald Trump will find out that he can’t keep robbing the country blind.
