This is my third attempt to write this post. Good Morning FL, If you are reading. It’s a hard topic to write about because this is something that I feel very strongly about. I believe that all life is precious and that each and every person on this earth deserves to be treated with respect. I don’t care what you have done in your life. If you have murdered someone, I believe that you should be in jail, but I believe if you are incarcerated you deserved to be treated fairly. I do not believe in torture. It is inhumane and not something that a civilized society should do. There are many people in the world who have done horrible things, but it is not my job to judge another person. I believe in God and he is the only one who can judge those who walk this earth. This is my belief and if your belief is different you may want to skip today’s blog. I will not be upset and I hope you will come back Wednesday. If you are clicking away from today’s post. Mawow says, “have a lovely day. Meow, meow, meow.)
As I was doing research for today’s blog, I had to view some pretty disturbing and disgusting things that concern torture. I have had my share of nightmares since I have started this blog in January, and I am going to scale back to posting Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. If I go to three posts a week, it will give me time to work on another project. I am currently editing a novel that I would like to get published. Also, I am getting a little burned out writing about the Trump Administration. It almost feels like they are trolling the American people and that there are some who have decided that having a “wanna be” dictator is better than having a woman or an African American president.
Thirty-seven percent of Americans are holding the rest of the country hostage by being in love with a man who has said: “I love waterboarding and we should make it much tougher than waterboarding.” Which brings me to today’s topic.
Gina Haspel has been nominated by Donald Trump to be the Director of the CIA who has an officer of the CIA for over thirty years, was deputy director under Mike Pompeo, and would be the first female director. This all sounds well and good until you start doing a little bit of research on Mrs. Haspel.
Mrs. Haspel has been praised but she is also controversial. Her confirmation hearings are set to begin on May 9th, but on Friday, May 4th she sought to withdraw herself from the nomination, to spare herself and the agency from possible damage to their reputation. Haspel told the White House she wanted to avoid the spectacle of being grilled over the CIA “black site” she ran in Thailand. (LINK)
The Washington Post reported, Haspel said she wanted to avoid causing harm to the CIA and becoming “the next Ronny Jackson,” a reference to Trumps pick to run the VA.
By Saturday, Haspel had changed her mind and wanted to continue with the nomination process. Sarah Huckabee Sanders tweeted,
Of course, Sarah Huckabee Sanders has to throw out the woman card. I guess in Trump land, you cannot object to torture and that we must be objecting to a woman taking a position of power.
I would be happy for Haspel to be the Director of the CIA if she did not have a past of approving of torture and destroying evidence having to do with torture. The CIA has declassified memo clearing Mrs. Haspel concerning the destroying of videotapes that showed torture. (LINK)
In my opinion, having Haspel in charge of the secretive CIA and Trump admitting he “loves” torture and would approve of killing the wives of terrorist, this is a terrible combination.
It is time to make our voices be heard. We need to let Congress and our Representatives know our feelings concerning this nomination. Haspel cannot become the director of the CIA.
You can call the White House switchboard at 202-456-1414 or the comments line at 202-456-1414 during business hours. You can reach your senators (HERE) and your representatives (HERE) please let them know how you feel about torture.
Most people connect torture with dictators who care nothing for human lives, but the president admires dictators and after hearing of China having the same president for life has mused that maybe one day the United States would have a single president for their entire life. (LINK) I find that absolutely scary. We are a democracy and we do not have a dictator running our country, but I’m afraid Trump would try that if we let him.
If you feel as I do, I implore you to please call your representatives and make your voice heard. Each and every one of us deserves to be heard.
This has been a hard blog for me to write. I apologize if it is hard to read. I struggle with topics such as this. I hope you have a fantastic day. Once Monday is gone, only four more days until the weekend. I think I will be taking tomorrow off and work on my novel, so Mawow and I will see you on Wednesday.
Mawow and I wish you,
Peace, Love, & Kitty Snuggles.
