Good Morning Y’all! 🤠
Yet again, I am writing late at night. I really need to learn to follow the schedule I set for myself. I write down what I need to do each day in my planner, but it seems like it all flies out the window and I get nothing done. Although, I see help in my future. 💜 Y’all know this girl needs help. I have been trying to branch out a bit from my writing, but I am finding that writing is my one true passion. Although, if you are looking for help in meditation send me a message on twitter. You do follow me on twitter, right? Twitter and Facebook and Instagram and Patreon. If you follow me on other social media, you will see the more personal side of Mawow and I. Mostly lots and lots of pictures of Mawow.
The topic for today is a heavy topic. Grab yourself a cuppa and settle in.
I have quite a few friends that I have made where I live, (my closest family member is a little over 4 hours away. Hi Nephew) but there is only a handful who I consider my family. 💜 They are all colors, shapes, and sizes and I love every one of them. I would bend over backward for any of them.
I know that my friends who are white are relatively safe where we live, but I worry about my friends who happen to not be white and I worry about my friends who are gay, lesbian and transgender.
As a Christian woman, I believe in the words Jesus spoke at the last supper. Judas had already left the table to do what he was going to do, and Jesus knew it was almost time for him to die on the cross. In the book of John 13:34 Jesus says,
34 I am giving you a new commandment: love one another. Also, you should love one another in the same way that I have loved you. 35 If you love one another, then everyone will know by [observing] this that you are my disciples. (LINK)
Jesus knew he was going to be betrayed and yet, he was still telling them to love each other as he has loved them. Jesus loved them even he knew what was coming. To me, that is like 🤯 mind-blowing. God wants us to love each other. We are not here to judge one another. The only person who should be judging anyone’s life is GOD.
Raise your hand if you have been judged by a “Christian?” 🖐️ I have. I am different. I do not have normal colored hair. Right now, it is black, purple and pink. I have more piercings than I want to tell you about. I want you to know, it is okay to embrace who you are, after all you were created by God. Embrace your uniqueness. I just told my nephew this very thing tonight.
How many people are judged just by the color of their skin? Or by who they love? If you judge someone by the color of their skin or by who they love, may I ask why? There are few very special people in my life who happen to not have white skin and I pray for them every night. I pray they are not stopped by a police officer who has a fear of someone because the pigment in their skin happens to be darker. Why should that make a difference?
At the time I am writing this according to the Washington Post, 412 people have been shot and killed by police officers. (LINK) Please do not read this as me hating police officers, I have a friend that I met during my time on jury duty who has a family line of police officers. Growing up, the father of my best friend was a police officer who let me ride in the back of the cruiser and took my picture in the jail at the station, yep I have a “mug shot” and pictures of me behind bars. I have loved police officers and I do not think they would kill someone because they feared a person because of the color of their skin.
The same link to the Washington Post allows you to use different criteria to filter your search. 82 black males have been killed by police officers in 2018 and out of those 82, only eight had body cam footage. Why are not all police wearing body cameras? And why are some officers turning off their body cameras? If everything is on the up and up, why wouldn’t that camera stay on?
As a white woman, I want to use my white privilege to help others. We can go back and forth about white privilege, but in my head, we who are white do have privilege.
If you want to read about black men vs. white men’s prison sentences, I would encourage to read THIS.
I have a wonderful friend who lives in the same town as I do, and I just outright asked him if he has been profiled before. He told me about the time he was driving his truck with a few of his family members with him. They had dropped off who I believe was his cousin’s girlfriend and the police stopped him because he was daring to drive after dark while not being white. It absolutely breaks my heart that he would be profiled. He and I haven’t known each other for very long, maybe five months or so, but I would trust him with Mawow and my Subaru. Those who know me, know how I feel about Mawow and my baby Subaru aka Lucy.
I have two dear female friends who are married to each other and their love makes me smile. God is love, my friends. When I see two people in love, it makes me all mushy inside, because I believe that love in any way, shape or form is a gift from God.
God wants us to love one another and it’s time to put an end to hatred. In my last blog, I talked about healing the divide in our families and in our country. I am not telling you it is okay to take abuse from someone who has a different political agenda or from someone who says cruel things to you about your lifestyle. We can love those friends and family members from afar. We can pray to God that he may unharden their hearts and one day it may happen. Don’t let anyone bully you for who you are. God loves you. He loves you so much, that he gave his only Son so that we may not perish but will have eternal life. (LINK)
Please y’all let’s just love one another so that life can be peaceful, but if you see something and you have privilege, do something. Stand up, defuse the situation if you can, if you can’t then find someone who can. We need to protect one another. We are all brother and sisters who just haven’t met yet and I want to get to know you, reach out to me on the contact page.
Let’s make this world a better place for our kids and their future. Mother earth needs us to care for her, just as our kids need us to make this world a better place for them. I want the kids of my niece and nephews to have clean air to breathe, clean water to drink, to be free to embrace their own uniqueness, to be proud of who they are and to love one another as God has loved us. I want us to unlearn judging one another so the future generations won’t believe that we treated each other so poorly.
Mawow and I hope you have a fantastic weekend. I plan on editing, working out and taking plenty of naps. I love naps. You would think I was a little girl who still needed afternoon naps. 💜 Watch the video below on how good napping can be for you! 😴😴😴👻
Mawow and I wish you,
Peace, Love, & Kitty Snuggles.
