As an American citizen, I am absolutely appalled at what the leaders of this country are doing. I have been trying to figure out how to write the blog post without it being full of curse words, and I will try to refrain from going blue, I cannot promise I will not. If curse words are something that may offend you, please skip today’s post and come back on Friday. It won’t hurt my feelings, but I am only human, and I do get angry, just like I am right this moment. If you can handle me cursing, please read on.
How does a government lose track of 1,475 immigrant children? (LINK) (LINK) Please listen to the second link. Our government gave children back to human traffickers, without vetting these people. Does our government even give a shit about minor immigrants? What the hell is wrong with this country. I am sad to admit that some of this happened under the Obama administration, but when Donald Trump became president, it was like Trump telling Obama “hold my beer.”
Once immigrant children are placed with sponsors, who may or may not be related to the child, Home & Health Services (HHS) says they are placed with sponsors they no longer the worry of HHS. Again, this goes back to the Obama administration and continues to the Trump administration. There are people within our government who are trying to make changes. The video in the second link above, in the hearing you hear that HHS, failed to do background checks on sponsors and that some children had missed court hearings and HHS did nothing to find these children.
The 1,475 missing children came into this country since January of 2018. I do not understand how these children can be missing. I know I keep saying that, but I am having a hard time understanding how this happens!!
Donald Trump has tweeted saying that the Democrats must stop the policy that separates children from their parents, but it is his administration that is prosecuting anyone who crosses the southern border illegally and that children may (are) be(ing) separated from their parents. (LINK)
I have seen so many tweets asking our government why they are not more concerned about the 1,475 missing children and every time I see one it makes me want to weep and then I get pissed off. There must be something more we can do, isn’t there? I know I talk a lot about getting out and voting out the assholes who treat immigrants and their children like animals, but there is more we can do, right? Please, someone, tell me what to do. I absolutely hate that children and immigrants are being treated this way and I don’t know what to do. For the first time in my life, I am truly at a loss as to what I can do.
Attorney General, Jeff Sessions, who I believe is a racist at heart is enacting a zero-tolerance policy that will separate even more children from their parents. This isn’t what God wants and I believe that with my whole heart. How can people claim to be “Christians” be A-OK with treating humans like animals? How can so many people who claim to be “pro-life” be alright with this happening? Does pro-life really mean if that baby is in the womb it’s human then once born, pro-lifers don’t give a fuck?
I know I shouldn’t be surprised by the pro-lifers. They want to take away healthcare, health insurance, food assistance and everything else that takes care of a child after it’s born. They also want to take away the right for a woman to get birth control so that more children are born and can live in poverty because the 1% is the only thing that matters to our government.
I am sorry this turned into a rant, but I am angry. I need to figure out what I can do to stop this from happening. I will get out and vote, but there must be more I can do. If you have ideas, please let me know. It’s to the point I can hardly stand to watch the news. We need to help these families. This country is a country of immigrants and people seem to have forgotten that.
Even Betsy DeVos is getting in on the action. She is telling schools that they should call ICE on children who might be undocumented, but that is against the law. In 1982, the Supreme Court ruled in Plyler v. Doe that schools cannot deny children their right to a free education based on their immigration status.
Betsy DeVos has tried to make schools more hostile, unaffordable and now she wants children who may or may not be undocumented to be thrown out of school and into the custody of ICE. I swear I cannot wait until Trump is impeached or the blue wave turns the House and the Senate bright blue. Then we can show Trump how ineffective he truly is. Maybe then his wife will get the courage to walk out the door. (Melania, if you are reading, send me a message. I will come and pick you and your family up. You can stay with me. I know you deserve better than this, every woman deserves better than what you have happening. I can help you.) I know that sounds mean, but I feel for her. This man is making her the butt of jokes.
